BhojPATRA, like Database driven Online Content Management
Web System, has been my dream project since the day I got an entry in my
Geocities guestbook in Devnagri, which I could read without installing the
fonts. The entry was from Alok Kumar of www.devanagraii.net At that time I was dabbling with idea of using
Microsoft WEFT (Web Embedded Font Technology) for implementation of Online
submission of form in Devnagri but nothing fruitful and concrete was
taking off since then.
I got fascinated and inspired by Chhahari Nepali Typewriter
by Rajesh B. Shrestha (www.chhahari.com). The keyboard mapping of Bhojpatra has been kept exactly as implemented in
Chhahari.
I first developed the prototype of "BhojPATRA Devnagri
Typewriter" and tested it on the internet, then discussed with Bipin and
Brajesh the idea of implementation of Devnagri Typing Tool for online
form submissions, online editing, online content search, online web search all
in devnagri. I outlined to them the specification for the Data structure and
gradually they developed all the forms and Database Structure as per the
Specification outlined.
Next, I did the economical viability/feasibility study of
this site and got feedback to use content related advertisement to offset the
running cost of this site. If cost goes very high the Bhojpuri group members
may be requested to assist in funding to continue this site.
Shri Manoj Singh Bhawuk, (भारतीय भाषा परिषद
से सम्मानित) has given his consent to edit the submitted content and
will be the chief Editor of this site. Sri Kamlesh Pandey, Our Delhi Moderator
with his vast experience of publication will be Chief Coordinator of
this site. But the involvement of all group members are very important
to make this initiative a successful initiative. All Bhojpuri group members
are also requested to assist them in whatever way they can.
So the idea to create Content online in Devanagri
finally has taken shape and I feel immense pleasure to dedicate BhojPATRA
on eve of Vijayadashmi and Gandhi Jayanti to our
Online Bhojpuri Community. BhojPATRA is our salute to Bhojpuri and will
go long way to showcase the
creativity of Bhojpuri writers.
